Our Future: 2050 Grand Concourse


On behalf of Unique People Services Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Team, and agency staff, we are excited to share our vision of our newest supportive housing development, 2050 Grand Concourse.


Unique People Services (UPS) is a New York City-based social impact organization. We are dedicated to providing a home and supportive services to individuals and families with challenging and special needs that have been denied companionate treatment elsewhere.


As an intergraded housing residence, our 2050 Grand Concourse project, seeks to empower New Yorkers to improve their financial security and household stability in support of strong families and communities.


Our established history, our standard of excellence, and relationships with various stakeholders in NYC and the Bronx give us an advantage in our ability to effectively and efficiently help vulnerable New Yorkers meet their essential needs and advance economically.


Since our founding, UPS has been dedicated to providing exceptional programs and services to unique segments of the New York population for nearly three decades. Our 2050 Grand Concourse project allows us to continue to fulfill our mission of providing holistic service dedication to the needs of the people we serve, and as we evolve, we endeavor to continually seek opportunities of expansion that provide housing and support services to a greater number of people.


Community Impact


Located in the Mt. Hope/Fordham/Tremont community of the Bronx, the 13-story building is approximately 87,000 SF and is a blended population and mixed-income building with 96 apartments serving low and moderate-income households; as well as provide single adult supportive housing apartment units.


As a sustainable development, 2050 Grand Concourse will provide apartments for low-income households being priced out of the area, bring higher-earning households into the area, and leverage the spending power of 48 UPS employees (including eight building and support service staff for the residential portion of the building) to invigorate local businesses.


The gateway project will also offer access to free WiFi, and multi-use event space within UPS’s community facility, thus activating a vacant segment of an otherwise vibrant commercial corridor. The sustainable design strategies, like green roofs, will also demonstrate a focus on health and wellness by lowering the building’s carbon footprint, immediately having a positive impact on air quality, and reducing energy bills for residents.


The residential development will include an on-site laundry opening onto a landscaped outdoor terrace in the rear yard, a community room on the 11th floor opening onto a landscaped terrace, and a bicycle storage room in the basement. The community facility component on three floors will house the relocated headquarters and social service programs for Unique People Services as well as community amenities for area residents and organizations.
