Unique People Services Jose Gonzalez House provides transitional housing, for up to 180 days, and acts as a supportive way station for 8 people living with HIV/AIDS to prepare themselves for more independent living in permanent housing.  Residents of Jose Gonzalez House come from a variety of settings including hospitals, shelters, community organizations, prisons, commercial SRO's, etc.

The primary goal of the program is to provide housing and supportive services in a stable environment for people who have contracted HIV to begin treatment for their health and emotional needs in order to lead a fuller life.

All client referrals come from the New York City Human Resources Administration’s HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) .

Our specific goals are:

   • To provide residential and comprehensive support services designed to meet the physical, social and emotional needs of each resident.

   • To help those whose needs have been neglected or whose circumstances have prevented use of existing services.

To promote greater public understanding of the unmet needs of individuals with disabilities.

   • To promote and secure permanent housing for each resident.

Furnished shared rooms and bathrooms are provided for all residents. Three (3) meals a day are served. Twenty-four hour staffing is on site.
