Unique People Services Haven Apartments
4th Annual Health Fair (May 20, 2011)
On Friday, May 20, 2011, Haven Apartments, 2145 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, NY sponsored and hosted their 4th Annual Health Fair for the mental health division of Unique People Services and the community at large. The inclement weather did not dampen the consumers need to achieve and maintain wellness since there were about 80 people that attended. They were greeted by well staffed providers from a variety of agencies and clinics including: Project Renewal Mobile Mammography, Fedelis Health Insurance and Bronx Smoke-Free Network. Free blood pressure, nutritional counseling and diabetes screening were provided by the Haven Apartments’ Health Care Coordinator. One of the more timely and well attended seminars presented by Western Pest Control focused on the early detection and elimination of bed bugs! The event culminated in a Barbeque for the neighborhood. Our goal next year is to double our providers/vendors and increase awareness of chronic and debilitating illnesses.
